General Surface Preparation
To discover the best results, surface locations must be correctly prepared. All surfaces that will be painted need to be dry, clean and free of waxes, mildew, oils, grease, dirt, or any surface debris. Use soapy, warm water to wash away any dirt or chalk with a bit of light cleaning. To remove surface wax, use a professional wax stripper. An Oil or Grease emulsifier may be used to remove oil or dirty grime applications.
While prep time requires time, it is essential for helping you achieve quality results. Clean formerly painted surfaces by eliminating all chipping, cracking and peeling loose paint. Work with sanders, wire brushes, hand-scraping tools, electric grinders and the proper tools to accomplish sanding. All metal locations need to be free from chips, oxidation and mill scale. Any damaged surfaces which are delaminated require maintenance and sometimes replacement.
Delicately sand the paint edges alongside the surface portion you want to paint. Scuff up any existing shine and lightly dull any glossy locations to produce better adhesion. Extensively vacuum once sanding is finished to extract all debris or dust.
Application
Cabinet Coat can easily be applied with a roller or a paintbrush. Some would rather spray and use the HVLP technique. It is important to stir the product prior to using it. Make an effort to keep a wet paint edge as you apply by brushing or rolling into locations that were coated previously. Cabinet Coat dries fast. Watch out for brush or roller marks showing up on an overworked product. Cabinet Coat is best applied when the ambient and surface temperature are higher than fifty degrees Fahrenheit and less than 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not paint if there is any potential for moisture building up on the wet paint.
Clean Up
Use warm, water and soap immediately when finished. Immediately wash your hands and let your paint products such as brushes and rollers soak. Ensure proper disposal for health and safety standards. Call your recycle centre to see if they will take dry or empty containers. Check with your regional sanitation department or bylaw to learn local disposal requirements. Check on disposal options with your ecological department.
Health, Safety and Environmental Information
Proper air-flow is essential for use. Under no circumstances breathe or inhale the sanding dust or spray vapor. A fresh air entry is essential for safe application and drying. Don’t allow any of the products have exposure to the eyes or skin. Wear an authorized NIOSH respirator during the application, clean up and sanding to prevent spray mist and dust exposure. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to be sure you are using the respirator as recommended. Wash your hands before and after use and ensure the vessel is always closed when you're finished the application.
FIRST AID
Wash your eyes for a minimum of fifteen minutes if any exposure occurs. In case any product touches your skin, rely on soap and water to thoroughly clean it away. Immediately seek medical assistance if required. If any respiration difficulty happens, get outside into the clean air and then get medical help if symptoms persist.
