WALLPAPER Removal

There are actually four different sorts of wallpaper. Strippable wallpaper, wallpaper equipped with a detachable top layer, classic wallpaper and peel and stick wallpaper. Since every wallpaper has unique elimination characteristics, it is essential to figure out what kind you have.

Strippable wallpapers expedite simple removal in complete sheets.

Traditional wallpaper is removed in smaller pieces and is trickier to remove.

Peel and Stick wallpaper may come off the wall in full sheets.

The type of wallpaper that has a extractible layer on top can annoyingly leave the paper backing on the wall as soon as the top layer is removed..

This can feel aggravating once you discover it is what you're really working with; however, there are techniques to simplify the process.

1. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

The residue-free removal and uncomplicated installation have made peel and stick wallpaper an innovative star. Merely start at one of the top corners of the wall and pull the wallpaper down carefully and firmly, working parallel to the wall. With caution and cautious removal, you may even reapply this product elsewhere if you are slow and gentle taking it down.

Make sure you take your time and work slowly without being hurried because over-stretching it will wreck it beyond repair. Be sure not to allow the sticky sides of the wallpaper to touch one other if you are trying to reserve it for reinstallation elsewhere. It is quite difficult to separate the pieces when they are allowed to touch each other.

2. Strippable Wallpaper

For convenient removal, consider trying our Sure Strip Wallpaper. It has been constructed with a pre-pasted backing which makes it easy and quick to take down. Thoroughly peel back a bit of the top section with a utility knife or even a scraper.

Next, yank the entire sheet straight down. Keep your hands next to the wall section as you work. Keep a spray bottle of water readily available to help activate the paste. Repeat with the remaining sheets of wallpaper. If you come across any portions that appear stuck or difficult, use a spray bottle or water sponge or cloth to loosen the paste more. If you have any residual paste, simply wipe the walls down with some dish detergent blended into warm water.

3. Traditional Wallpaper

Traditional wallpaper is the type that many people loathe working with due to its track record of difficult removal. However, the right techniques and equipment make a big difference. Take a wallpaper scoring tool and poke teeny holes all over the wallpaper surface. This method allows the wallpaper remover solution and water to reach through to the underlying paste.

Combine hot water or wallpaper remover and soak the punctured wallpaper in 3-foot sections to simplify removal. Your neighborhood hardware store or online is the best place to find wallpaper remover. DIY your own wallpaper remover remedy with hot water blended with either vinegar or some fabric softener. Wallpaper steamer devices can be rented from many hardware stores.

Important! If you are hanging wallpaper straight onto drywall, be sure not to over-saturate for prolonged periods of time. Being damp temporarily is good, but extra exposure can create harm. To avoid damaging the drywall, use a spackling knife or a scraper to softly take off the wallpaper. If there is any extra residue on the wall, carefully wipe it off with a solution of warm water along with dish detergent.

4. Wallpaper with a Peelable Top Layer

This sort of wallpaper oftentimes features vinyl which may be removed and the backing adheres onto the wall. This is a two-step removal that depends on stripping away the top layer. Warm water or a spray bottle can release if it gets stuck. Saturate the paper backing coating with any of the wallpaper removers. Be very diligent as you scrape the paper from the walls. Finish up by wiping down with a sponge and detergent combined with water to clear away any paste.

Finishing Up

Once your wallpaper has been removed, allow 2 to 3 days for full drying time. You can use some fans to help accelerate the drying process. In only a couple of days, your walls will be ready to benefit from their new recovering. Enjoy some new, unique looks with updated wallpaper strategies. Enjoy your new room and be satisfied with your creation.
